Mystery Trips 2020
During the pandemic, Muni is not operating regular service cable cars or streetcars. However,
beginning September 2020, one Powell Street cable car has been towed to the turntable at Market Street
on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Today, it was Powell car 16, which wears the Muni blue and gold (yellow) livery from 1939.
The car was accompanied by Muni operators including Val Lupiz and Tony Marquardt. The San Francisco Opera
sent three string musicians to play classical compositions during the noon hour. I waited for the tow truck
to hook up the 16 to return her to the car barn.
There were two streetcars in training operation. While I didn't get boat car 228, I did take
pictures of St. Louis PCC torpedo 1006.
I photographed a number of New Flyer XT40, XT60, XDE40, and XDE60
coaches westbound with the sun over Market Street.
There are a few shots around San Francisco and in Burlingame.
Nikon D3500 and LG Q7+ yielded 186 photos.
