Brand new Gillig 9717 on route 24 (Downtown San Jose to California Avenue Caltrain) is seen at First and Main Streets, Los Altos, on April 3, 1997. The 24 line was discontinued by 1999. It has its origin in the former Peninsular Railway interurban streetcar route along what are now Stevens Creek Blvd. and Foothill Expressway. Here's a picture of Peninsular car 52, preserved at the Western Railway Museum, on April 19, 2009.
